#2: Stop Letting Them Live Rent-Free

I’ve noticed a pattern on social media. Some people spend more time talking about the people they dislike than the people they love.

Every week it’s the same names, the same outrage, the same criticism, the same reminders of how much better they think they are.

And honestly…it’s kind of sad.

Not because disagreement is wrong. Healthy debate matters. Different opinions matter. Holding people accountable matters.

But there’s a difference between standing for something and becoming consumed by someone.

When one person dominates your thoughts, your conversations, and your social media feed, they’re taking up far more space in your life than they probably deserve. At some point, they start living rent-free in your head.

Here’s the thing: after a while, people stop noticing the person you’re criticizing.

They start noticing you.

They stop seeing conviction and start seeing fixation.

They stop seeing passion and start seeing someone whose identity has become wrapped up in tearing another person down.

Because eventually it stops looking like conviction. It starts looking like an unhealthy obsession.

And that’s just…really weird.

The people I admire most aren’t constantly searching for someone to criticize. They’re busy building something worth talking about. They’re investing in their marriage, raising their kids, growing in their faith, serving their community, creating opportunities, and encouraging others. Their identity isn’t built around who they oppose. It’s built around what they contribute.

Maybe that’s a good reminder for all of us this weekend.

Spend less time giving attention to the people who frustrate you and more time investing in the people and things that actually make your life better.

Attention is one of the most valuable things you'll ever own.

Be careful who you give it to.

Keep the fire burning.🔥
